Treatments
Achilles Tendonitis
What is it?
Achilles Tendonitis is within the tendon where it connects from the calf muscle to the posterior heel. This is most common in runners or athletes but anyone can be affected.
How is it diagnosed?
X-rays, Ultrasound, MRI
What can we do?
Rest, Ice, heel lifts, orthotics, Immobilization, Strapping, NSAIDs, and in rare cases surgical intervention.
Fracture
or
Stress Fracture
What is it?
A fracture is a complete or small crack in the bone due to trauma or strain. A stress fracture is usually caused with over use.
How is it diagnosed?
X-ray, MRI
What can we do?
immobilization, and in some cases surgical intervention if the fracture is displaced.
Ingrown Toe Nail
What is it?
An ingrown toenail is when the side of your nail grows into the skin. This most commonly affects the big toes but can occur on any digit. If the condition is ignored the area can become infected and require antibiotics.
How is it diagnosed?
An ingrown toenail is diagnosed by clinical examination.
What can we do?
An ingrown toe nail can bee treated by simply cutting a wedge on the side of the nail; however an infected or more sensitive ingrown would need an in office procedure and possible antibiotics.
Plantar Fasciitis
What is it?
If you are experiencing heel pain this could be your diagnosis. This is most common in runners or athletes but anybody can experience this condition.
How is it Diagnosed?
X-rays, ultrasound and MRI
What can we do?
Injection, strapping, orthotics, night-splint, physical therapy, immobilization, ice, and stretching.
Tinea Pedis
and
Tinea Unguium
What is it?
Tinea Pedis is a fungal infection of the skin, most commonly known as athletes foot. This can occur to anyone and can also be combined with rough callous feet. Tenia Unguium is when the nail has a fungal infection.
How is it diagnosed?
Clinical evaluation, occasionally a skin or nail biopsy when indicated.
What can we do?
Mechanical debridement, compound cream or medicine.
Diabetic Foot Care
What is it?
Diabetic Foot Care is designed for our diabetic patients to monitor and treat our diabetic patients before they develop any problems. We also use these appointments to educate our diabetic patients on what to look for in your feet.
What can we do?
Educate, maintain, custom orthotics, custom braces, and annual x-rays to track neuropathic patients.
